Due to family obligations, for the next while I'll be pointing everyone over to Legion World for updates on solicitations (and more). For now I've added two threads to LW, one for the regular Legion February solicits and one for the animated Legion. The covers are already up and the solicitation text should follow later this afternoon. Check them both out and be sure to post your comments there.
Also, check out Michael's Omnicom for up-to-date Legion news. He'll cover everything I'll miss in the next little while and more! The Clubhouse should be back in the swing of things with the new year. Thanks for your patronage and for checking out the site! |

As promised by the WB last week, here is a detailed synopsis (with spoilers) of this last Saturday's episode, Chained Lightning, along with four new images. The synopsis also contains information about when the next new episode airs. In addition I've added the air dates released so far for November.
Fans got more than Lightning Lad's back story in the Saturday, October 13 episode of "Legion of Super Heroes" -- they also learned of a new addition to his power: a cybernetic arm. In the episode, entitled "Chained Lightning," Lightning Lad discovered that his sister, Ayla, long thought to be lost in the same Lightning Beast attack that gave him and his brother, Mekt, their powers, is really alive. However, Ayla was actually trapped in the form of pure electromagnetic energy. With the help of the Legion, Lightning Lad was able to save Alya before Imperiex could harness this energy for his own diabolical use.
But before saving Ayla, Lightning Lad had to be saved himself. Lightning Lad's right arm was severely damaged by a blast from Imperiex. Brainiac 5 performed microsurgery (with the help of Shrinking Violet) to give Lightning Lad a cybernetic arm loaded with explosive charges, lasers and, of course, lightning -- all powered and amplified by his own bio-electric energy. As Violet says of his new arm, "It makes things go boom!"
Lightning Lad is voiced by Andy Milder ("Weeds"), while James Arnold Taylor ("The Boondocks," "Star Wars: Clone Wars") and Kari Wahlgren ("Ben 10") voice Mekt and Ayla, respectively. "Chained Lightning" was directed by Brandon Vietti and written by Matt Wayne.
This Saturday, October 20, "Legion of Super Heroes" will air a repeat of the season premiere's second half: "The Man From the Edge of Tomorrow, Part 2." The episode will air in its customary time at 11:00 a.m. ET/PT as part of the Kids' WB! Lineup on The CW Network. An all-new episode, "The Karate Kid," will premiere on Saturday, October 27. Legion episodes for November include: the new "Who Am I?" on Nov. 3; "Cry Wolf" on Nov. 10; the new "Unnatural Alliances" on Nov. 17; and "Chained Lightning" on Nov. 24. Updated with the back box art and episodes.
According to TV Shows on DVD.com, with a tip of the hat to Suddenly Seymour at Legion World, a second 4-episode DVD of the Legion of Super Heroes cartoon is scheduled for release 2/05/08. From the press release: LEGION OF SUPER HEROES V2
In LEGION OF SUPER HEROES, a team of superheroes from the 31st century heads back in time to enlist Superman's help in battling their nemeses, the Fatal Five. But when they arrive in the Man of Steel's hometown, Smallville, they discover that they've miscalculated a bit. Instead of a powerful, confident Superman, they find the introverted, insecure young adult Clark Kent, whose abilities need fine-tuning and who knows nothing of the legend that comic book history says he'll become. It takes some effort, but Brainiac 5, Bouncing Boy, and Saturn Girl convince Clark that he's special and may be able to help them. Although he sincerely doubts that he's the "Superman" they keep talking about, his curiosity is piqued enough that he goes back to the future with them.
The Legion itself is a group of well-meaning, undisciplined and unpredictable, super powered young adults who just happen to be the Universe's only hope. The Legionnaires are still light-years away from becoming the seasoned (and cynical) pros of the Justice League.
From TV Shows on DVD.com: The running time is 89 minutes, audio is Stereo for both English and French, and there are English subtitles present. Cost is $14.97, priced "for impulse purchase" as they say in the biz. A 3rd Volume is in the works as well, with the remainder of the first season's episodes (including the two-part season ender, "Sundown"). Later on we expect Warner to collect these into a "Complete 1st Season" box set, so be warned. The episodes included are: "Champions," "Fear Factory," "Brain Drain" and "Lightning Storm."
